Diabetic Retinopathy: How to Deal with It?
Diabetic retinopathy is a serious complication commonly found in diabetic patients 🩸. It's caused by persistently high blood sugar levels, leading to damage to the blood vessels in the retina 📉, which can result in decreased vision and eventual blindness 🚫👀.
The Department of Health 🏥 will explain how to recognize the symptoms and treat diabetic retinopathy 📢.
Symptoms of diabetic retinopathy include six noticeable signs: 👇
1. 🕷️ Seeing black spots or lines resembling cobwebs floating around.
2. 〰️ Seeing distorted images.
3. 🌫️ Blurred vision, decreased visual acuity, unstable eyesight.
4. 🎨 Difficulty distinguishing colors.
5. ⚫ Seeing dark spots in certain areas.
6. ❌ Loss of vision or blindness.
Treatment methods for diabetic retinopathy are divided into two stages: 💊
1️⃣ Early stage: If symptoms are mild to moderate, doctors will closely monitor the condition instead of treating it. 🩺 Patients may also need to carefully control their blood sugar levels 🍬📉 to prevent the condition from worsening.
2️⃣ Advanced stage: In this stage, patients will begin to experience more severe symptoms 🚨. Treatment can involve laser therapy 🔦 to control and treat leakage and abnormal blood vessels. If the condition is very severe, with significant bleeding in the vitreous humor, 🏥 vitreous surgery may be necessary to prevent vision loss.
Therefore, have regular annual health checkups 🗓️ or attend all scheduled doctor's appointments 👩‍⚕️ to know your accurate health status ✅ so you can prevent and treat your health effectively with your doctor's advice. ❤️
